30 Day Blog Journal (Day Twenty Six)

30 Days..

Day 26 - your week, in great detail

My week..
My week has consisted of much the same as usual. Homeschooling, loving and nurturing my children, loving and nurturing my sweet man.
But what is worth speaking of is the exciting change the L-rd has brought into our home.
We have begun to spend time together as a family in prayer each night. The praying isn't what's new as we pray together alot, but what is new is the reason for our prayers. We are starting a new exciting journey. As believers the L-rd has called us to spread the Gospel and to further His kingdom. We want to be a part of that. Not in being comfortable here in our home..but by putting our faith in action. Getting out there and speaking the Words of Life to those who are perishing.

We are just in the praying and seeking/looking process right now. But we do know that living mediocrity is not our desire nor that of the L-rd. We want to live radically for Him. Wherever that means He leads us; even if that's in Africa or inner city missions or even right here in our own backyard. We just want to be about His business.

So as we kneel in prayer each evening this is our prayer: that He would lead us and guide us to the place He wants us to spread the Gospel. That He would show us what His purpose is for our family. Where we can be the most useful to grow His kingdom!

Will you pray with us?

30 Day Blog Journal (Day Twenty Five)

30 Days..

Day 25 - your day, in great detail..

Well, I have been so tired lately. So I slept in this morning in between nursing two babies and praying with my dh before he left for work.
Once I did get up I made sure the children were getting busy with chores. Today was Gabby & Josiah's day to cook. They made baked oatmeal with fruit filling. YUM! :) So after breakfast I got the children moving on their chores and I had my morning cup of chai and read the 2nd chapter of Luke. I am now reading through the book of Luke and enjoying it! (along with Daniel)

I then headed upstairs to do some printing of school papers and to make up a language arts worksheet for 5 of the children. While doing this I checked email and facebook. A friend messaged me on fb so I chatted with her for a few minutes and then headed downstairs to get the children going with schoolwork.
Today we talked about Albania. We read in Window to the World on how best we can pray for them and info on the country.
By this time it was time to eat lunch. So we paused for lunch and then chores. I also made my lunch during this time and ate. After the children were finished with their schoolwork we all sat down and watched a few Andy Griffith episodes.
I helped Josiah and Gabriellia figure out their meal for supper. Josiah made Spanish Rice and Gabby made peanutbutter cookies for dessert.
I did get a nap this afternoon. Again my sleeping times are always interrupted by nursing babies. I would love to have a full nights sleep...someday...

My dh came home about 6pm and we ate supper shortly there after. I spent some time upstairs online looking into ministry opportunities.
We also lit our Chanukah candle; the last night tonight and gave the children their gifts. The children decided to play dreidel.
Now it's bedtime. We spent some time in prayer and then baths. Now Micah is telling on his brother Zeke and I need to go put out a fire..:)
All part of being a mama X 10!!

And there you have it..not as much detail but I am sure it would not be very exciting to tell you how many fires I put out daily or how many poopy dipes we change or how many times I breastfeed... but I am sure if you give it some serious thought you could almost imagine it! LOL! :)

Blessings!

30 Day Blog Journal (Day Twenty One)

30 Days..

Day 21 - a recipe

I am doing Weight Watchers and so I like to try new recipes that are low in points; which means healthy for us! :)

But since it's Chanukah I will post a recipe we made last night for supper. This recipe isn't too bad as far as healthy goes..

Cabbage Latkes

Ingredients

2 C. cabbage, finely grated
1 whole egg plus 2 egg whites
1 onion chopped
2 TBSP soy or whole wheat flour
salt and pepper
non-stick cooking spray
1 TBSP canola oil

Preparation

1. Place the cabbage in a 4 cup bowl. With a wooden spoon mix in the eggs and onion. Add flour and season to taste.
2. Using wet hands, form latkes.
3. Wipe a non-stick frying pan with a paper towel dipped in oil and spray the pan with non-stick cooking spray.
4. Put on medium heat. Wait until hot and drop batter by TBSP into pan. Fry latkes over medium high heat, for 4-6 minutes until firm and browned on both sides.

YIELD: 10-12 servings

30 Day Blog Journal (Day Nineteen)

30 Days..

Day 19 - a talent of yours...

This is a tough one! I am not sure if I know what my talents are?? But, if I think on it I guess I could say cooking. I am actually a very good cook and baking and cooking etc.. come easy to me. In fact I just redid our chore charts, cooking days chart, etc.. and I put my days for Monday and then Friday with my 8 yr. old son Micah. I have missed cooking. My oldest dd and then my oldest son (with the help of the littles) have been doing alot of cooking so I had to take it back so to speak...:)

Also, I think I decorate my home nicely. I enjoy making my house into a home. making it welcoming and cozy.  It isn't always what I want because of finances but if I had an unlimited budget I would have such fun!

And I bet my friends would say babies and pregnancy! And yes, I am good at carrying and giving birth and all things midwifery. They are passions of mine. Women and things having to do with that is a passion of mine. I think it important to know ourselves and that truly does carry into childbearing.

I guess that wasn't so hard was it??

It would be interesting to see what all of you think my talents are? So tell me, what would you say are my talents?
